meal planning, Farmer’s Marketting
Last night, we were scheduled for chicken soup, but to have chicken soup, we had to be willing to leave the house; you have to get to our local market earlier than we generally do to get chicken, but local chicken can be had from our local Earth Fare. We both decided that we didn’t feel like going out, so we looked around to see what we had here, and there was still a ton of salad left from Tuesday. I fried up a little country ham, boiled a couple eggs, and chopped an apple, to add to the greens, green pepper, and carrot we already had prepared, and we had salad in no time flat.
Meal plans for the week:
tonight: homemade cheese pizza
tomorrow: homemade ravioli
Monday: quiche
Tuesday: chicken pot pie/vegetable pot pie
Wednesday: beef enchiladas
Thursday: salad
Friday: chicken soup and rolls
So, at the farmer’s market we got a gallon of skim milk ($3.95), a half gallon of cream ($7), 2.5 dozen eggs ($3), a pound of sausage ($3), 2 pounds of bulk and 1.5 pounds of pattied ground beef ($10.91), vintage, muenster, and 2 blocks of colby cheese ($12.10 total), and potatoes, tomatoes, and country ham ($7.30). This time of year, until produce starts appearing again, our farmer’s market list is going to look much the same from week to week. We’ll make our Deep Roots run tomorrow.
